Situation

As a student leader organizing a university fund-raising concert, our main sponsor pulled out a week before the event due to budget cuts.

Task

I had to secure at least PHP 50,000 in alternative funding within three days to avoid canceling the event.

Action

I quickly assembled a team to brainstorm alternative sources. We pitched to five smaller local businesses, offering booth spaces and logo placements. Simultaneously, I negotiated with the venue to reduce the down payment in exchange for a longer partnership. I also personally visited two alumni-owned restaurants to ask for in-kind sponsorships, which we converted into VIP ticket perks.

Result

We raised PHP 65,000 from three sponsors and several in-kind donations. The concert proceeded successfully, drawing 500 attendees and exceeding our charity goal by 20%.
