Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026. This policy is written to comply with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, as enforced by the National Privacy Commission (NPC) of the Philippines.

1. Who We Are

Kareera ("we," "us," "our," operating kareera.co) provides an interview-preparation platform for Philippine corporate and BPO job applicants. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it under Philippine law.

By creating an account or otherwise using kareera.co, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account & profile information

Email address and password (or your Google account details, if you sign in with Google), full name, username, chosen profile icon, career stage, career goal, target job function and role, and — optionally — age range, gender, and location. Age range, gender, and location are always optional and are used only in aggregate (never identifying any one person) to understand our overall audience.

Payment information

If you purchase a paid plan, we collect the GCash payment confirmation screenshot you upload, the plan and amount, and any affiliate code used. We do not collect or store your GCash account number, card details, or any other financial account credentials — payments are made directly between you and GCash; we only see the confirmation screenshot you choose to upload to us.

Usage & activity data

Questions you view, practice answers you submit for AI grading, mock interview transcripts, scores and progress history, comments you post, and notifications sent to you.

Automatically collected data

Standard technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, and general access logs, collected by our hosting providers for security and troubleshooting purposes.

Cookies & advertising

If you use the free, ad-supported tier, Google AdSense may place cookies on your device to serve and measure ads. You can control ad personalization through your Google Ads Settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account, and to authenticate you when you log in.
  • To deliver the core service: showing you relevant questions and interview guides, tracking your practice history, and grading your practice answers.
  • To grade your practice answers and mock interviews using an AI processing provider (see Section 4) — the text you submit is sent to that provider solely to generate your feedback and score.
  • To process and verify GCash payments and grant or manage your subscription plan.
  • To send you transactional messages about your own account — for example, a reminder that your plan is about to expire, or a notification that someone replied to your comment. These are not marketing and are sent regardless of your marketing preference below.
  • To send you marketing communications (tips, new features, promotions) — only if you have opted in, and you can withdraw this consent at any time (see Section 8).
  • To understand our audience in aggregate (e.g. general age range or location distribution) for our own product decisions and to describe our audience to corporate or sponsor partners — always in aggregate, never in a way that identifies you individually.
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms.
  • To maintain and improve the security, stability, and performance of the platform.

4. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the following categories of service providers, strictly to operate the platform, and only to the extent needed for the purpose stated:

  • Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider.
  • Vercel — our application hosting provider.
  • DeepSeek — our AI processing provider, used to grade practice answers and mock interviews, and to match interview questions to a job description you paste in.
  • Resend— our transactional and (if you've opted in) marketing email provider.
  • Google AdSense — shows advertising to free-tier users.

Cross-border transfer notice: some of these providers process or store data on servers located outside the Philippines. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to require a comparable standard of data protection from that provider, consistent with Section 21 of the Data Privacy Act.

We may also disclose information where required by law, in response to a valid legal process (such as a subpoena or court order), or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Kareera, our users, or the public.

5. Data Storage, Retention, and Security

We apply reasonable organizational, physical, and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted data storage and access controls that restrict each account's data to that account (and to authorized administrators) only.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes (for example, payment records may be retained as required under Philippine tax and accounting rules). You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 6); we will honor that request except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012

As a data subject under RA 10173, you have the right to:

  • Be informed that your personal information will be, is being, or has been processed (this Policy is part of that).
  • Access your personal information that we hold.
  • Object to the processing of your personal information, including processing for direct marketing, automated processing, or profiling.
  • Erasure or blocking of your personal information from our systems, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Rectify any inaccurate or incomplete personal information we hold about you (most of this you can already do yourself from your profile page).
  • Data portability — request a copy of your data in an electronic format.
  • Damages for any harm sustained due to inaccurate, incomplete, false, or unlawfully obtained personal information, or unauthorized use of your personal information.
  • Lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission if you believe your rights under the Data Privacy Act have been violated.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@kareera.co. We will respond within a reasonable time and in accordance with the Data Privacy Act.

7. Children's Privacy

Kareera is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. Because we serve entry-level and fresh-graduate job seekers, some of our users may be under 18 — if you're between 13 and 17, please make sure a parent or guardian is aware you're using the platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we will delete it.

8. Marketing Communications

We only send marketing emails (tips, new features, promotions) to users who have explicitly opted in, either during sign-up or later from their profile. You can withdraw this consent at any time from your profile page or by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect transactional messages about your own account (such as plan-expiry reminders), which are necessary to operate the service.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly. Continued use of kareera.co after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.

10. Contact Us

For any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal information, contact us at privacy@kareera.co.
