Why have you chosen the Shell Graduate Programme in the Philippines, and how does it fit into your long-term career goals?

Situation

I grew up in Batangas where Shell's refinery and terminals are major employers, so I've seen how Shell's operations directly impact communities. As a Chemical Engineering fresh graduate, I wanted a programme that would give me end-to-end exposure to the energy value chain while building technical leadership skills.

Task

I needed to find a graduate program that would bridge my academic background with real-world energy transition challenges, not just a typical management trainee role.

Action

I attended Shell's campus recruitment talk at UP Diliman, researched the CAR framework and the 3-year rotation structure, and spoke with a Shell alumna who shared how she rotated through Lubricants Supply Chain and Retail Engineering. I also reviewed Shell's public commitments to safety and the energy transition in the Philippines, including the 1,100 mobility sites and the non-fuel retail expansion.

Result

I became convinced the Shell Graduate Programme is the right platform because it offers deliberate development through rotations, formal training, and coaching, which aligns perfectly with my goal to become an operations leader who drives both business results and safety excellence in the downstream oil and gas sector.
