Situation

I previously worked in a retail store with rotating shifts, including late closing hours, so I understand the challenge. When I applied here, I knew the telecom account requires 24/7 support, especially graveyard for US customers.

Task

I needed to honestly convey my willingness and show I have a practical plan to stay healthy and productive.

Action

I told the interviewer: 'I am fully amenable to any shift. I actually prefer night shift because it fits my body clock better. I've done it before and I know the importance of a consistent sleep schedule: I use blackout curtains, avoid caffeine before bed, and I keep my room cool. On weekends and holidays, I understand it's part of the job, so I celebrate with family on my rest days instead. I also do light exercise before my shift to stay alert.'

Result

The interviewer nodded and mentioned that many top agents start on nights. I was eventually assigned to a night shift and have consistently been punctual and energetic.
