Why do you want to work here?

Situation

Before applying, I researched the company's reputation, its products or services, and what current or former employees said about the day-to-day work and culture.

Task

I wanted to give an answer that showed genuine interest in this specific company, not a generic reason that could apply to any employer.

Action

I looked at the company's own website and careers page, read a few employee accounts of the real work environment, and thought about which of my own strengths and values genuinely matched what I found. I picked one or two specific things I learned, rather than general praise, and connected them to my own reasons for wanting a customer service role.

Result

I was able to explain clearly and specifically why this company stood out to me, which came across as more sincere than a generic answer would have.
