Philippine-specific tips for this role

Can you tell me about a time you had to handle a difficult or irate customer, and how did you resolve the situation?

This is a classic call center behavioral question. It tests your patience, empathy, problem-solving skills, and whether you can stay composed under pressure. For a technical support role, they want to see that you don’t just follow a script but actually think through the issue and own the resolution. It also gives them a sense of how you treat customers when things go wrong.

What do you know about business process outsourcing, and why do you want to work at VXI Global Solutions specifically?

This question tests two things: whether you actually researched the company and industry, and whether you have a genuine, non-generic reason for joining VXI. It filters out candidates who apply to every BPO without knowing anything about the specific employer. For a technical support role, they want someone who understands that outsourcing is about delivering excellent customer experiences, not just answering phones.

You’ve just resolved a technical issue for a frustrated customer. How would you transition the conversation to promote our latest accessory or service package?

Many BPO accounts, even technical support ones, have sales targets or at least expect agents to spot upsell opportunities. This question checks if you can seamlessly shift from support to sales without annoying the customer. It also reveals your ability to listen for needs and suggest relevant products, not just read a list of promos.

You receive a call from someone claiming to be the account holder, but they cannot provide the correct PIN or security answer. How would you handle this situation?

Identity verification is a critical compliance issue in any BPO handling customer accounts, especially in finance, telco, and healthcare. This question tests whether you understand the importance of following security procedures, how you explain policies to customers, and how you handle objections without being rude or breaking rules. It also reveals if you can think of reasonable alternatives within policy.

Imagine you are on a call with a senior citizen who cannot connect their smartphone to Wi-Fi. Walk me through how you would assist them.

This is a classic technical support role-play. It tests your ability to communicate technical steps clearly and patiently without visual aids. It also reveals empathy: can you adjust your language and pace to the customer’s level? For the BPO industry, where many callers are not tech-savvy, this skill is crucial.
