Philippine-specific tips for this role

• ▸ Many Filipino candidates over-apologize when admitting a skill gap: 'Pasensya na po, hindi ko po talaga alam' (I'm sorry, I really didn't know). Instead, frame it as an opportunity to grow and show how you take initiative. Avoid starting with 'Actually, sir/ma'am' and rambling; jump straight into the STAR structure.
• ▸ Avoid generic and shallow answers like 'Gusto ko po dito kasi malaking company' (I want to work here because it's a big company) or 'Para po sa experience' (For the experience). Also, don't over-apologize with 'Sorry po, wala pa po akong experience' (Sorry, I have no experience yet) - the program is designed for fresh graduates. Focus on what you bring, not what you lack.
• ▸ A common pitfall is to demonize the colleague: 'Hindi po siya nagsusumikap, ang pabigat niya po' (He's not diligent, he's a burden). This reflects poorly on your team attitude. Some candidates also say 'Sasabihin ko po sa boss' (I'll tell the boss) immediately, which can be seen as unprofessional. Instead, show collaborative problem-solving.
• ▸ Avoid casting the other person in a negative light, like 'Ma'am, tamad po kasi siya mag-communicate' (She's lazy to communicate). Also, don't just say 'Nag-adjust po ako' (I adjusted) without detailing how. And never imply that you simply gave in; show how you found a middle ground that benefited the project.
• ▸ Many Filipino fresh grads panic when asked an opinion question and respond with 'Wala po akong maisip, sorry po' (I can't think of anything, sorry) or give a one-word answer like 'Inflation po.' Instead, structure a simple but reasoned argument: identify one specific challenge, explain why it matters, and connect it to SMC's context. Use Taglish sparingly, and avoid filler words like 'ahm' or 'kasi po parang ano.'
