Philippine-specific tips for this role

  • Avoid saying 'gusto ko lang po ng trabaho' or 'malapit lang po sa bahay.' Interviewers want to hear that you chose this company specifically, not just any job. Replace convenience-based reasons with something you genuinely learned about the company.
  • Many Filipino candidates instinctively over-apologize with 'Sorry po, sorry po talaga, hindi ko po kasalanan' even before understanding the issue. This can sound defensive and unprofessional. Instead, acknowledge the emotion without assigning blame: 'I understand your frustration. Let me investigate what happened.'
  • A common error is to blurt out, 'Ma’am, may savings account kami, mas malaki interest, apply kayo!' in Taglish. This feels transactional. Instead, frame it as a polite suggestion in English, like 'I notice you maintain a high balance; you might qualify for our Maxi-Saver account which earns a higher interest rate. Would you like me to have an officer discuss it with you?'
  • Many Filipino candidates might say, 'I’ll just make sure walang mali, kaya ko yan, sanay ako sa pera.' This sounds overconfident and informal. Instead, describe a systematic approach in English, such as counting twice, reconciling, and using a checklist.
